With the result of the corneal thickness the actual intraocular pressure can be calculated. The standard value of a cornea is approximately 550 \u03bcm.<\/p>\n<p>After applying an anesthetic drop to the cornea, a small pencil touches the corneal surface and measures the thickness using ultrasound.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n\n\n\t<div class=\"grid-x grid-margin-x grid-padding-x block-bild-text le medium-margin-collapse\">\n\t  <div class=\"cell medium-4 large-4\">\n\t  \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"singleImg\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" class=\"bt-img\" src=\"https:\/\/bieler-augenzentrum.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/Sirius-300x300.jpg\" \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"singleImgCaption\">Sirius: Corneal Topographer<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t  \n\t  <\/div>\n\t  <div class=\"cell medium-8 large-8\"><p><!-- wp:heading --><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"oo3\">CORNEAL TOPOGRAPHY (SIRIUS)<\/h2>\n<p><!-- \/wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>This examination serves to measure the front and back surface of the cornea. It can be used to determine, for example, astigmatism or a thinning of the cornea with a bulge (keratoconus). This procedure is also used for contact lens fitting which guarantees an optimal fit of the lens. In cases of severe astigmatism, special lenses can be used during cataract surgery as a result of the topography.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n\n\n\t<div class=\"grid-x grid-margin-x grid-padding-x block-bild-text ri medium-margin-collapse\">\n\t  <div class=\"cell medium-8 large-8 small-order-2 medium-order-1\"><p>The corneal surface is individual for each person. The anterior and posterior surface of the cornea is measured topographically, so that a relief of the cornea can be calculated.
